Diesel Mechanics

The Diesel Mechanics program at Adams County Technical Institute offers real-life training in the heavy-duty diesel industry. Whether you are interested in on-road or off-road applications, you can learn the skills needed for an entry-level start to your future career. Our classroom and shop training always focuses on safety, but beyond that, you will receive training in engines, powertrain, suspension, brakes, electrical and hydraulic systems, forklift operation, as well as various essential shop skills. If you qualify, you can even earn a PA State Safety Inspection License and other certifications that can help you get a great job. As a senior in the second semester, you will participate in our job shadowing program where once a week you visit and work alongside experienced techs at various shops in our area. We are not your typical high school class, this a serious hands-on program. The best technicians know the theory, operation, and diagnostics that are learned through classroom training as well as the shop. If you are seriously interested in learning how to repair heavy-duty trucks, earthmovers, agricultural equipment, power-gen, or light-duty applications, we may have a seat for you.
